Bottles for the Beverage Industry

The use of plastic bottles made from PET is increasing worldwide. Reciprocating compressors pressurize the air that is required to blow the bottles. Many compressors in this industry are fitted with HOERBIGER products. Our worldwide service departments provide a complete range of services for all such compressor users and operators, to ensure that these compressors run smoothly and reliably. Our capacity control systems have been introduced into PET bottling plants to reduce the compressor’s energy consumption.

PET bottles

PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate, a thermoplastic synthetic material. This material is used in the production of bottles containing beverages. PET granulate is liquefied and then blown into a bottle inside a blow mould using air at a pressure of approx. 40 bar. The air is pressurised to this level in special PET reciprocating compressors. Some facilities are able to produce up to a million bottles per day.
